Design Vision

The design focused on introducing volume, light, and architectural presence through structural changes rather than relying solely on interior finishes.

Vaulted ceilings, new gabled roof forms, and expanded glazing were introduced to create a brighter and more open interior environment. At the same time, the outdoor spaces were reimagined to make the backyard an integral part of the home.

Structural Renovation & Addition

A significant portion of the project involved restructuring the interior layout and roof structure of the home.

Interior walls were removed to create an open floor plan connecting the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Ceilings throughout the home were raised and vaulted, dramatically changing the scale and spatial experience of the interior.

Three new vaulted gables were added to the roofline, replacing the previously simple roof structure with architectural forms that introduce light and rhythm along the exterior. These gables incorporate expansive window walls and clerestory windows, allowing natural light to fill the main living spaces.

Outdoor living was also expanded with the addition of a large vaulted patio, creating a covered entertaining area that connects directly to the backyard.

The rear of the property was further improved with the construction of a new 450 square foot detached garage, providing additional storage and functionality while maintaining separation from the main house.

A new 16 x 32 heated swimming pool anchors the backyard and completes the outdoor living environment.

The Result

The completed project transforms what was once a conventional ranch house into a bright, open, and architecturally expressive home.

Vaulted ceilings, clerestory windows, and new gabled roof forms bring light and vertical volume to the interior, while the new patio, pool, and detached garage create a backyard environment designed for everyday living and entertaining.
