Design Vision
The Larkspur renovation focused on modernizing the home while enhancing light, volume, and livability. The original house had solid bones but lacked openness and needed significant infrastructure upgrades.
The design introduced higher vaulted ceilings and expanded glazing to create a brighter interior environment. At the same time, the renovation emphasized durable materials and clean finishes that align with mid-century design principles.
Upgraded systems, improved circulation, and refreshed exterior spaces were all incorporated to bring the home up to modern standards.
Interior Renovation & Infrastructure Upgrades
A significant portion of the project involved updating the home’s infrastructure while improving the interior layout.
The home received a new electrical panel, updated plumbing systems, and new ductwork, bringing the mechanical systems up to current standards. Interior finishes throughout the home were replaced, including flooring, paint, and fixtures.
Ceilings were reworked to increase vaulting, creating greater vertical space and improving the overall sense of openness in the main living areas. Additional glazing was introduced to bring more natural light into the home.
A new laundry room was incorporated into the house, improving functionality and everyday usability.
Kitchen, Baths & Material Updates
The renovation included a completely new kitchen and updated bathrooms, designed with simple forms and durable materials suited to desert living.
Concrete flooring was introduced throughout the home, providing a clean, modern surface that complements the architectural character of the space. New cabinetry, fixtures, and finishes were installed throughout the kitchen and baths to modernize the interior while maintaining a restrained design palette.
Exterior improvements included updated paint and new landscaping to complete the transformation.
The Result
The completed Larkspur renovation transforms the home into a brighter and more functional living environment.
With increased ceiling height, expanded glass, updated infrastructure, and new kitchen and bath spaces, the project modernizes the home while maintaining a clean architectural character suited to desert living in Tempe.
